WebEsha Ness is of interest as it belongs to the last phase of manned lighthouse construction in Scotland and is one of only 13 major lights built during the period 1900-1968. Of these, only three (including Esha Ness) were built after the First World War. Esha Ness therefore forms an important chapter in the story of Scotland's lighthouses.
